internships & service-learning
Go beyond the classroom
Your students could participate in a unique study and experiential learning abroad program by combining academics, ISA Internships or Service-Learning options, and adding activities to tie these together. These opportunities add another dimension to the study abroad experience through daily interactions with locals, resulting in a greater understanding of the culture, community and language of the host country. Visit the ISA Internships and Service-Learning page for more information.
ISA's Internship division works with local businesses and organizations across many different industries in the Pacific, Asia, Europe, and South America to provide an academically- and professionally-oriented internship experience. Internship programs can be offered as a stand-alone program or as an add on to another custom program. One of the great things about an ISA Internships Custom Program, is if you choose to co-brand one of our set-date programs or design a custom date internship program for your university, there is no minimum enrollment necessary, unless add-on excursions are built in. All ISA internships are designed to build professional skills and experience as well as provide a real-world experience to enhance classroom learning.
Participants will participate in a full-time internship in their field that meets their current skill-level and future goals. ISA offers internships in the following sites:
- Hong Kong
- New Zealand
Visit the ISA Internships page for more information on academic credit options, locations, placement options and eligibility.
ISA's Service-Learning division has created lasting partnerships with local NGOs, schools, clinics and businesses in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East to provide structured service-learning projects. Service-Learning programs are available independently or may be combined with your university's customized academic course. All ISA amd Service-Learning programs are designed to encourage personal and professional growth, develop language proficiency and facilitate meaningful community engagement.
Participants have the opportunity to develop a Service-Learning Portfolio throughout the program which includes critical reflections, group discussions, weekly journal entries, logs of hours, supervisor evaluation and a certificate of completion. ISA offers service-learning in the following sites:
- Costa Rica
- Dominican Republic
- South Africa
Visit the ISA Service-Learning page to learn more about program options, placement types and eligibility.
